Courage to Quit Ad
2014
During my tenure at Columbia, I undertook a compelling project that tasked us with creating an advertisement addressing a significant societal issue: smoking—a habit that resonated personally due to its impact on friends and acquaintances. Drawing from my own experiences and recent photography endeavors, I selected a poignant image of a friend smoking as the focal point of the ad. Employing graphic effects to evoke the symbolism of fire, I sought to underscore the urgency and potential dangers associated with this habit.
Furthermore, as part of the project, we were challenged to develop a direct mail piece aimed at providing valuable resources and support for individuals seeking to overcome their smoking addiction. This component of the project served as a proactive initiative to empower and inform individuals about available assistance in their journey towards cessation. Through thoughtful design and impactful messaging, I endeavored to contribute to the broader dialogue surrounding smoking cessation and public health awareness.
